At this point, all my finance knowledge comes from Rika, YouTube videos, and Investopedia. In other words, I was very unskilled, knew nothing about the industry, has no investment process. Interestingly, this was also my most arrogant period, thinking how knowledgeable I was compared to my peers. I thought investment and modeling could be explained simply by some YouTube videos, building DCFs as if they could actually facilitate my investment decisions.

Up until this point, I’ve learned that what I already know is far less than what I need to learn. ITPM provides me with a holistic, practical, though arguably oversimplified trade idea generation process, enabling me to identify trading opportunities and make informed decisions. The top-down approach taught here differentiated me from the vast majority of retail investors in the market, I started my own due diligence, and dream about becoming a self-sustainable trader one day, through pain and reflection.

“It (investing) is not supposed to be easy. Anyone who finds it easy is stupid”. Now I 100% agree with what Charlie Munger said. The analytic tools taught by Brett Coughran were remarkable to me. He demonstrated the due diligence I need to make an informed investment decision and showed me the complexity involved in the professional investing world. There are so many factors that could influence the outcome of an investment that one must go through tons of hard work to truly become the expert on the names. Though my way of investing is still not perfect, I swear that with every investment I make, there will be new ways of thinking and improvement. By being humble to knowledge, learning from mistakes, and evolving gradually, I’m confident that one day I will be a self-sustainable investor who could bring high risk-adjusted absolute return to my LPs.
